Two Policemen and a civilian have been reportedly shot dead following a robbery attack at Idi Ape-Iwo Road in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday.
The robbers intercepted and engaged the Policemen escorting a bullion van in a gunbattle, injured passers-by and Police personnel, and carted away a large sum of money.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko, who visited the crime scene, confirmed that a civilian was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot, while two Police Officers died due to gunshot injuries.
According to her, the Policemen killed one of the robbers, while four others-including two Officers are responding to treatment.
The Commissioner of Police assured that all exits in the State had been closed, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the criminals.
Meanwhile, she noted that details about the robbery incident would be made public after investigation.
