The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects allegedly responsible for kidnapping incidences at Onigari in Oluyole Local Government Area on Lagos- Ibadan Expressway.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Ngozi Onadeko, paraded the suspects on Thursday at the Command’s Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The suspects were arrested following an attack at Onigaari axis on January 7, where they allegedly killed a commercial driver, shot a passenger, and kidnapped four victims.
The Command immediately swung into action, deploying intelligence and tactical assets, which led to the arrest of one of the suspects, known as Maku-Maku, on January 14.
The CP said that further investigation led to the arrest of other suspects while some are still at large.
According to the CP, the suspects confessed to having carried out the kidnapping operations that led to the death of one Oluwatosin Anwajoye, 45, at Onigari area of Lagos/Ibadan expressway on January 7.
A victim, Folahan Olaleye, narrated how he and his family were attacked while returning from Lagos on December 24, 2021, at about 8.00 p.m.
The victim said he was shot while his daughter and pregnant wife were beaten. He added that his family paid N2,750,000 as ransom before he was released by his captors.
