Police in Ogun State have arrested three men for allegedly vandalizing and stealing from a mast belonging to a telecommunication company, MTN, in Ota, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State.
The suspects are 27-year-old Kabiru Olusola, 43-year-old Taye Daniel, and 47-year-old Afeez Balogun.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by Policemen attached to Atan-Ota Divisional Headquarters from the Chief Security Officer of the company in charge of the mast, Shuaib Muhammed.
The CSO had told the Police that some hoodlums numbering about six had invaded the MTN mast. Upon the distress call, the DPO, Atan Ota Division, quickly dispatched his patrol team to the scene where the three suspects were apprehended while others escaped.
The Police recovered seven backup batteries valued at 3 million naira, rectifier module, and their operational vehicle with registration number AAA 779 XL.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a comprehensive investigation of the case with the view to charging the suspects to court as soon as possible. A manhunt has also been launched for the fleeing member of the gang.
