Zamfara State is one of the States in the North West, where terrorists are wreaking havoc and killing scores of locals continuously. However, the State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has stated that banditry will not end soon.

He made this assertion on Monday while briefing State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

“I don’t think this issue of banditry will end very soon because already, some people are behind and some people are using it. All they need is, at least, to show Nigerians that both the Federal and State Governments are not serious about the issue of insecurity, even though some of them are involved in the crisis,” he stated.

According to the Governor, there are ‘’political bandits’ who have been spreading rumors and lies, particularly about the figures of those affected during attacks, to achieve their political gain.

“We are working to make sure that all those who have hands in insecurity in the State must be brought to justice. Once the investigation is concluded we will inform the public,” he added.
