A 14-year-old teenager has been arrested for abducting her mistress two-year-old son with the intent of taking him to Imo State.

The suspect was a maid to the mother of the little boy, and she left with the boy on December 19, 2021, after picking him from the church during Sunday school in Lagos.

The suspect was arrested on Monday after a woman, Victoria Nwafor, who had found the teenager and the child begging on the street, reported at Sagamu Divisional Headquarters.

According to the woman, she saw the teenager on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, begging for alms, pretending that the toddler was her younger brother and that their parents died in a ghastly auto crash in December 2020. She noticed that the boy was very ill, out of compassion, she took them to her house in Sagamu to take care of them.

However, when the boy fully recovered, the suspect wanted to single-handedly take the boy to Imo State, which aroused her suspicion.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ogun State Police Spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the DPO, Sagamu Division, CSP Okiki Agunbiade, detailed his detectives to go and bring the girl and the little boy following the report.

“On interrogation, the girl confessed that she was a maid to the mother of the little boy and that she left with the boy since December 19, 2021, to take the boy to Amraku Umorsu in Isiala/Mberna Local Government Area of Imo State.

“She took the baby from the church during Sunday school period, and since the Sunday school teacher knows her with the baby’s mother, she had no problem releasing the boy to her,” the PPRO said.

The teenager told the Police that she decided to beg for alms to raise transport fare to Imo.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the baby’s parents be contacted urgently and the case should be forwarded to the Lagos State Police Command where the crime was committed.
