A 20-year-old man, simply identified as Ridwan, is accused of murdering his father for ritual purposes in Ogun State.
The suspect was arrested by personnel of the So Safe Corps on Thursday, 31st August, 2023, at Oshoku Village in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
The officers were on routine patrol when they heard a strange noise from a building. They entered the building to confirm what was happening and found the lifeless body of the man with some body parts missing, while the suspect had fled the scene.
Ridwan was later nabbed where he was hiding in a bush.
According to the State Commander of the Corps, Commander, (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, he confessed to have killed his father, Ishau, by tying a rope around his neck and using a knife to remove the needed parts of his body.
He removed his father’s private part, larynx, and four teeth as requested by a ritualist he identified as Baba Kekere
The Commander further revealed that when the suspect was asked about the whereabouts of the ritualist, he refused to give details.
The suspect has been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Ogbere Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
