Two persons have been confirmed dead and 37 others were rescued from the debris of a two-storey building that collapsed in the late hours of Wednesday.
The building, located at Lagos Street, Garki Village, Federal Capital Territory, serves both residential and commercial purposes.
While confirming the incident, the Director-General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Dr. Abbas Iddriss, said, “Thirty-seven persons have so far been rescued and evacuated to hospital, others reportedly still trapped. They are making frantic efforts at getting an excavator to remove people from the rubble.”
A combined team of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), FCT Police Command, and the VIO are on the ground as the search for more victims intensifies at the scene of the building collapse.
