The increasing rate of children on the traffic soliciting for help from commuters and motorist is becoming unbearable and is no doubt a menace in a sane society. Just two weeks ago, the Nigeria Police in its effort to combat criminal acts paraded a woman who claimed to be operating an orphanage home, but yet uses the children to beg on the street.Read more
The Lagos State Police Command penultimate Wednesday paraded a certain Mrs. Loius Ntieso who claimed to be running an Orphanage Home but uses the children to panhandle on the street of Lagos. Today in our Special Focus Segment we spotlight this issue and how panhandling with children has become a business trend in our Society.
Police had come across two children that were begging for arms at Shagamu Road in Ikorodu, and when questioned this two children had inform the Police that they are being used by someone, known as Louis Ntieso to beg for arms along the street, and they gave information as to the fact that, there are so many of them that are being used for that purpose, so far the Police have been able to recover 11 children from this suspect, and she can’t give a satisfactory account on how she come about them, but she use this children for arms begging in various places in Lagos State.
The mothers of these children are like friends to me, one who has three children out of those children the husband fell down from Electric Pole February last year and died instantly the mother was a full time wife and feeding was a problem so she came to me and said you have operated orphanage home; see orphans here help me, I took the children and ask her to sign that she will be coming to see them every month she agreed, and the other two when the mother was pregnant for one the husband denied it and said he’s not the father of the child and she planned aborting the pregnancy, I told her not to abort the pregnancy because it is too big that she may die and I agreed that she should put to birth that I will take care of the child for her.
The church am attending is Praise International Church it is registered and entitled to operate Orphanage, I don’t beg with the children if am going out I go with the ones that are matured, when we went out yesterday I told them I want to show them how to operate ATM, so when we reach the bank I told them to wait for me outside the bank while I go inside to get the ATM card, so when I came out I couldn’t find them there after moving front and back I then received a call that they are in Shagamu Police Station and I went to meet them there.
We use the BRT bus and head to where we want to beg for money, like Oshodi, Ikorodu and Lagos Island we go out three times a month to beg for money.Read more
